The little white ball struck the black ball lightly on the side, sending it skitting off to the side as the cue ball proceeded onward, rolling with agonizing slowness towards the pocket. I then watched with my heart racing as it dropped directly into the little hole. April froze in the position as Will's face lit up with exuberance.
